THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she completed her secondary education. With a deep passion for family law, Ashley's present legal practice revolves around various aspects of family matters. She concentrates a large portion of her practice on divorce cases, alimony disputes, marital property distribution child custody battles child support arrangements, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, enforcement and post-divorce issues as well as step-parent and private party adoptions and concerns about child welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning issues, such as trusts, wills and probate, and estate administration, in addition to commercial, contract, and civil litigation cases. Ashley has served as a mediator appointed by a court since the year she assists parties in helping them resolve their disputes without the needing court involvement. Ashley mediates private disputes as well as court-appointed mediation for individuals who wish to avoid court processes and litigation.

After completing her undergraduate studies at Loyola University of Maryland, where she earned dual bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. When she graduated in 2013, she excelled in her studies, placing among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was an Editor of the Notes at the Western New England Law Review during her time in law school. This was a sign of her dedication to legal research and scholarship.

After completing her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship, working for prominent jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She was fortunate to serve as a law assistant to the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. In 2014, she returned to Hagerstown Maryland to work as an attorney for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. This experience allowed her to get a better understanding of the local legal scene. Learn more about Ashley Wilburn

Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. as an associate attorney. Her main focus at the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases involving child welfare. Through her tireless efforts, Ashley played a vital role in helping children who had suffered neglect or abuse at by their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to social justice extended beyond her legal practice as she actively served as an officer of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force, which worked hard to educate the public about human trafficking in the tri-state region.

In 2017, she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the area of family law such as divorce child support, custody, and guardianships - aswell as estate planning, wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy - and mediation.

Ashley founded Wilburn Law Office, LLC, 2023, with the intention of providing an individual approach to every client's needs.
